Washington Hospital
Investing in the health of the community
How advertising gave a hospital back it's future.
To avoid closure, Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, California had to carry out seismic upgrades for earthquake safety.
To help achieve that end, we were tasked with persuading the residents in San Francisco's East Bay to approve a $190 million bond measure. We soon discovered that getting the required 2/3 super majority vote was a seemingly impossible task. 43% of voters were insured by Kaiser Permanente, and that meant they were obliged to seek non-emergency care from a Kaiser hospital.
Our campaign made local people famous for being proud owners of an independent community hospital.

A 223,000 sqft Critical Care Pavilion and Advanced ER, ICU and Coronary Care Unit was completed in 2018.
